My name is DJ FreddyG and Digital Visions is my creative alter ego. I have a love of Classic Dance & Pop music, which fuels my passion to try to give new life to some of these older favorites.
I have been blessed to have been a DJ/Producer/Remixer for well over 25 years, so I've lived most of the music I choose to Edit. My goal is to create mixes that are enjoyable to listen to as well as being extremely DJ Friendly. Please feel free to follow me on Soundcloud, on Facebook and on Mixcloud This mix was requested by Gary Poulter (aka Chuggin Edits) for the Soundcloud group @sliceoflifeSOL. My plan was to create a mix that was perfect for Top-Down cruising on a Summer Night or while lounging on a beach somewhere with a drink in your hand and toes in the sand. Included in this 90+ minute mix are a number of edits created by yours truly, plus others that I enjoy playing on a regular basis during my semi-weekly LiveStream. But all tracks were in some way, shape or form altered by me for this mix. BTW...There were a ton of great edits for me to choose from by some amazing people I follow (and follow me) on Soundcloud, I only wish I could have included those as well. I guess that just means I need to make a Part 2 This mix was done in Old Skool Cassette Deck fashion....All In One Take – Live on 6/18/14 at the Digital Visions Studio in the shadow of New York City. Hope y'all enjoy it! Track List: 1. Todd Rundgren – Hello Its Me (Philip Steir Remix – DV Re-Edited) 2. Hamilton, Joe Frank & Reynolds – Fallin' In Love (Digital Visions Re-Edit) 3. Let's do this one more time....just for fun.... Yet another reboot of a mix I did awhile back that I always intended to re-do. This is extremely simple in design, making the song mixable. This track hit #4 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart back in 1979...no doubt assisted by her appearances as Leather Tuscadero on the hit show "Happy Days". Standard production enhancements apply..... ...Please enjoy the memories responsibly :) Edit Info: Time: 4:42 BPM: 130 Intro: 32 Beats Outro: 32/32 Beats End: Cold Yet another reboot of an old mix I did years back of a forgotten hit from 1980. This was done purely for fun as I doubt too many people will either A: Remember it...or B: Care if there is, was or ever would be a remix of it.
Standard creation process applies..... So for those of you who do remember and do care, here is the edit you have been waiting for...LOL ....Enjoy!! :) Edit Info: Time: 4:08 BPM: 124 Intro: 32/32 Beats Outro: 32 Beats End: Cold Yet another reboot of an old mix I did a few years back. It appears I'm on a kind of Yacht Rock kick these days. This is one of my favorite Carly Simon tracks ever...and its such a great old song!!
Took the original version and updated the rhythm track, extended out the Intro, added an Outro, included some effects then locked the tempo at a slightly faster 113 BPM. All in all this is a far superior mix to my original.....hopefully you guys will get a kick out of it :) Edit Info: Carly Simon - You Belong To Me (Digital Visions Re-Edit) Time: 4;57 Intro: 32/32/32 Beats Outro: 32 Beats End: Cold Just a little something simple for the upcoming summer here in the Northern Hemisphere....
Took the standard version and gave it a bit more length, yet its not quite as long as the commercial "Long Version". Added a full Intro plus extra long Outro, enhanced the rhythm track and bumped up the tempo slightly to a solid 112 BPM. ....Enjoy!! :) Edit Info: Pointer Sisters - Slow Hand (Digital Visions Re-Edit) Created: May 2014 BPM: 112 Intro: 32 Beats Outro: 64/32 Beats End: Cold One of the things I get asked to do a lot is to "fix" other edits. Most of the time its simple fixes....add an Intro/Outro, tempo Correction or simply shorten the mix down to a manageable length. Well a few days ago my best friend DJ Pooch (@dj-pooch-3144) sent me a bunch of edits he picked up of classic disco tracks, which he wanted shortened and tempo corrected. This was among the tracks.
The mix I received was just too damn long....I mean an 8-9 minute version of this song is just waaaay too much of a "cheezy" thing. I have also been hearing this song a lot lately on the internet radio station playing at my job, so by the time I finished "fixing" the one he sent me I decided I should do one of my own. This song is by no means a "Classic", but the Chic production makes what is a mediocre song far less objectionable. I took the long version and updated the rhythm track slightly, gave it what I believe to be a more usable Intro/Outro, tempo corrected the track and took out some of the repetitive fluff. Hopefully some of my peeps will get a little play out of this tasty morsel of Disco Cheez :) ....Enjoy!! :) Edit Info: BPM: 136 Intro: 32/32 Beats Outro: 32/32 Beats End: Cold Going thru my library once again to find songs that could use a basic edit for regular play, I always run across a track that somehow seems to get a bit more than just the "basics".
This is a great Disco classic from 1976 that isn't necessarily the first song you think of when you hear the name Carol Douglas. That song would be the classic "Doctors Orders". Took the long version and created an Intro (32/32 Beats), added a full break (32 Beats) and created an Outro (32/32 Beats). I enhanced the Kick and Hats, added light effects and finally locked the tempo at 122 BPM. Hope you guys enjoy the memories :) Track Info: Carol Douglas - Midnight Love Affair (Digital Visions Re-Edit) Created: May 2014 Time: 6:46 BPM: 122 Intro: 32/32 Beats Break: 32 Beats Outro: 32/32 Beats End: Cold I've been "hard at work" lately....creating 2 new edits plus I've finally created a logo (above). After an exhaustive search of cat pics on the net I finally found one that really caught my eye (well those eyes caught my eye). Added some minimal lettering and there you go!
As for the edits, the first, was a lesser remembered track from 1982 by none other than Miss Diana Ross... "Mirror, Mirror". As was the case with my previous edit of "Jack & Jill" by Radio, I once again those a song featuring a more "mature" version of a children's story. In this case the envious Queen featured in Snow White. And its kind of funny that the song is as forgotten as it is since it was a #2 R&B/#8 Top 40 Billboard hit. As a little bit of useless trivia, "Mirror Mirror" was co-written by Michael Sambello of Flashdance's She's a "Maniac" fame. Track Info: Diana Ross - Mirror Mirror (Digital Visions Re-Edit) Created: May 2014 Time: 6:40 BPM: 105 Intro: 32/32 Beats Break: 32 Beats Outro: 32/32 Beats End: Cold The second edit was something I had been interested in doing for quite some time, the 1980 #3 Pop hit duet "Guilty" by Barbara Streisand and Barry Gibb.. During the last 70's and very early 80's it seemed everything Barry Giibb touched (produced/wrote) turned to gold...and this was no exception. Awhile back I was trying to decide between editing this song and Samantha Sang's "Emotion"., with the latter getting the nod. Then last week I hear this song playing over the radio and immediately realized that this might make a decent edit. Its not an overly elaborate edit as the song is pretty sweet as is. I did enhance and modify the rhythm track and make it "DJ Friendly" by creating a usable Intro/Outro. The tempo was also bumped up slightly to allow it to be better used a s a bridge between slow and low tempo dance tracks. Track Info: Barbara Streisand & Barry Gibb - Guilty (Digital Visions Re-Edit) Created: May 2014 Time: 5:34 BPM: 80 Intro: 32/32 Beats Break: 32 Beats Outro: 32 Beats End: Cold There were more than a few years in the early 80's where Kashif was literally "The Man" in regards to writing and producing hit R&B tracks. I mean come one..."Love Come Down" is amazing to this day! Love's Comin At Ya is unmistakably one of those tracks and one of Melba Moore's biggest hits.
I took the 12" version and decided to keep it Old Skool simple with no rhythm enhancements and no over the top effects. I just used the existing material and created an Intro/Outro and rearranged some of the body of the song. The only think I did do was to lock the tempo at 115 BPM. I love the Kashif sound and I have yet to do an edit of his solo material...but one is coming. Until then I hope you enjoy this very simple and very DJ Friendly edit :) Track Info: Melba Moore - Love's Comin' At Ya (Digital Visions Re-Edit) Created: April 2014 Time: 6:11 BPM: 115 Intro: 32 Beats Outro: 32/32 Beats End: Cold Recently I've heard quite a few of Chaka Khan's pre "Ain't Nobody" tracks on the online radio station at work, which has got me inspired to work on one or two.....
"What Cha' Gonna Do For Me" was Produced by 11 time Grammy winner Arif Mardin (who successfully Produced literally hundreds of artists covering virtually all musical genres), this is a great example of early 80's R&B....which became the influence for so much of the late 80's British Soul that was so incredibly popular. Prior to 1983 this was one of Chaka Khan's biggest hits, then in 1983 "Ain't Nobody" followed in 1984 by the mega-hit "I Feel For You" virtually buried her previous works. Now tracks like this are generally only heard in rotation on Online Classic Soul stations. I took the original version (as there was no long version) and gave it just a bit more length via an Intro/Outro. I also felt that a slightly more aggressive rhythm track was appropriate along with some subtle effects. Finally I tempo corrected the track (which ranged from 105 at the beginning to 108 at the end) to a solid 108 BPM. I truly hope you guys dig listening and using this classic R&B Jam as much as I did creating it.... .....Enjoy!! :) Track Info: Chaka Khan - What Cha' Gonna Do For Me (Digital Visions Re-Edit) Created: April 2014 Time: 5:20 BPM: 108 Intro: 32 Beats Outro: 32/32 Beats End: Cold My latest edit is of the Top 10 International R&B/Pop Classic from 1977-78 by the group Raydio (featuring Ray Parker Jr)......"Jack & Jill".
My inspiration for edits comes from many places; sometimes from hearing a song on the radio or TV, sometimes from requests and other times just from playing (or wanting to play) it during on of my LiveStreams. In this case it came from both hearing it on an internet radio station and playing an edit I had found awhile back in a LiveStream. The edit started with a good idea but the creator had an impossible time keeping the overlayed beat in sync with the original track. The beat drifting varied from OK to Train Wreck so it was awkward to play live, especially since I tend to be a perfectionist when I mix. The song is a catchy tune...made even more so as its a more adult play on the old Jack & Jill Nursery Rhyme. As a re-edit the song didn't require much from me. It was well constructed already, only requiring a usable Intro/Outro. As always I attempt to upgrade the rhythm track as to give it a slightly more modern sonic feel while not trying to "re-invent the wheel" so to speak. After all if it isn't broke...don't fix it. Most of the foundation of the edit was hashed out and created in Adobe Audition 3.0, then transferred to Abelton Live 9 for post. Once there I began the task of finalizing the re-assembly of the track, adding subtle layers of effects along with Tempo Correction. All the while I am constructing a suitable rhythmic upgrade using Fruity Loops 11. In the end the edit turned out about as well as I had hoped. And based on the comments ob Soundcloud it looks like you guys think so too! Edit Info.....
